TrainVolleyball Drill Favorites



Drills are vital for bettering our skills as players.  The goal is to get lots of quality touches on the ball so to develop
muscle memory, coordination, and control.  Below are some favorites based on the minimum number of people
needed.

Solo drills

Pass-Set: Pass the ball straight up to yourself then set it straight up to yourself.

Make sure you:
  • Keep right foot forward
  • Use a platform with arms straight
  • Set with hands above the hairline

Some Variations:
  • Change the height of each touch (low or high)
  • Pass-pass set-set
  • Pass, set, touch the ground (great for leg strength and a good warm up)
  • Pass-set to a wall
 

Right-left: Play the ball to yourself with your left fist (or forearm) then your right

Playing with the forearm works quick reaction for midrange digs, with the fist works wider range direct-able digs

Some Variations:
  • Change the height of each touch (low or high)
  • Right right left left
  • Continue right left as you sit down, lay down, and get back up
  • Right, left, pass, set, [touch the ground]
  • Add a wall


Star Pass: Beginning in the center of a square (or the court) pass the ball straight up and then to a corner, then
straight up and back to middle. Continue by going side middle corner middle all the way around (all four corners)
